The chiropractic role in the management of scoliosis

The scoliosis patient may present with:
– pain (painful back, shoulders, hips),
– muscular imbalance,
– postural imbalance,
– instability that needs an exercise program, or
– deformity that needs to be assessed.

A doctor of chiropractic has the diagnostic tools to diagnose different types of scoliosis.

Our main objective is to:
diagnose, treat pain due to myofascial trigger points and help prevent/monitor the progression of the scoliosis, by means of a multidisciplinary approach.

Spinal screenings for children, especially between the ages of 9 and 16 years is imperative if there is a family history of scoliosis. Incorporating chiropractic as part of your family medical care regimen could make all the difference in your child’s future.
